INTRODUCTION To start, since a TIL runs on a personal computer, we first need to provide an introduction to what a computer is, especially as it relates to the development of your own Threaded Interpretive Language programming language. From there we will provide examples how a threaded interpreter works, how to implement one on a Raspberry PI, and how to extend the language to implement new features. Before we begin, one important concept is abstraction. There are two types of abstractions one is a representation of a concept with figures or symbols. The other concept is something that takes you down a deep hole and becomes an abstraction to the goal that you're trying to achieve. So it's important to note that we will only be using figures and symbols as abstractions and not the minute details of how circuitry and electricity store, add, compute as this would become an abstraction to our goal since its understanding is not necessary to learn to program. Next up! The Computer |
